Forest Town is open for business

cropped-the-dark-rising.jpgIt’s been a long hard road, but the website for the Forest Town Chronicles is finally up and the second book, The Dark Rising, is now available on Amazon. The website is a little basic at the moment, purely because after almost two years of fiddling and trying to make an unintuitive WordPress theme work, I admitted defeat (for the sake of my own sanity and those around me) and bought this glorious new one.

I think I made the right decision.

It’s great being able to self-publish, especially when it comes to getting your shorter works out there, but it’s definitely not for the faint-hearted. It would have been great to have a publishing house behind me, a team of graphic designers putting everything in place, but for works of this length you’ve just got to roll your sleeves up and get on with it yourself. These past few weeks/months have been nothing short of an ordeal. I’ve been in over my head with coding, not to mention Adobe Illustrator in an attempt to put a Forest Town street map together. But hopefully now I can get on with what I love doing the most–-writing.

I’m already working on the next instalments of the series. And there will be novel length pieces eventually. But for now, I hope you enjoy the Dark Rising, and if you didn’t catch it the Great Illusory.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Hurray! I’ll be sure to read and review — but I can’t understand what you mean about a website being so difficult to build … just kidding! I had to say it only because you and I have been struggling to get Dodo off the ground. But our Dodo will fly eventually! 🙂

    • Eighteen months trying to make the old theme work as opposed to two days with the new one…go figure!!!
I’m getting the hang of the Dodo one now as well…I’m practically an expert lol! 😛
